Benefits Available to Domestic Partners
Rockwell Automation offers Domestic Partner benefits in the following plans:
- Supplemental Life Insurance
- Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance
- MetLife Legal Plans
In addition, domestic partners can participate in some of the optional benefits available through MetLife Auto & Home.
Is There a Waiting Period to Add a Domestic Partner to My Coverage?
Not during Annual Enrollment. However, during the year any election change must be consistent with the change in status. For example, if you enter into a domestic partnership, you may not change from the HRA Plan option to the HSA, but you may add your new domestic partner to your medical plan. Changes are not automatic. You must provide notification within 31 days of the event to request a change, and you may be asked to provide documentation (such as a documentation of your domestic partnership) to make the change effective.
FSA Reimbursement for Domestic Partners and Children of Domestic Partners
Unless your domestic partner or your domestic partner’s children are eligible for federally tax-free health benefits, you cannot use a Health Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA) to reimburse yourself for their medical expenses. Unless you can claim your domestic partner’s children as federal tax dependents, you cannot use a Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to reimburse yourself for their care.
